This Day In History: November 12th, 1982

November 13th, 2007 by Eric Socia

It’s my birthday. I’m 25. Yes, that makes me a quarter of a century old. Yes, it sucks. =P

November 12, 1982:

  • US performs nuclear test at Nevada Test Site.
  • USSR KGB-chief Yuri V Andropov succeeds Leonid Brezhnev as USSR leader
  • Zaheer Abbas gets his 100th 100 in Test Cricket v India, goes to 215
  • Lech Wałęsa, a Solidarity leader, is released from a Polish prison after eleven months.

    Happy B-Day Eric,

In November of ‘82 I was doing logistics planning at Camp Lejeune, NC. Don’t remind me that it was 25 years ago. :)

I’m happy to see that I’m not the only one who is entertained by ‘this day in history’ facts. I put up a ‘this day in history’ widget on my blog and I don’t think it’s even close to the number one clicked link, which made me wonder if people just don’t care. So thanks for the entertaining history.
